An Early Literacy Tool For Toddlers: 12 Stories With Read-Along Capabilities On 3 DVDs
There are a lot of entertainment choices geared toward very young children, but I guess I have a special spot for those that promote literacy specifically. It's never too early to get your kids thinking creatively and starting to enjoy the pleasures of the written word. Reading doesn't have to be a dying art! This collection from the Scholastic Storybook Treasures is Volume 4 in the "My First Collection" series and features three separate DVDs housed in a slipcase. These presentations certainly aren't the most sophisticated examples of animation on the market today, but there is enough color, vibrancy and humor to connect the kids to the stories. The recommended age group is 2-6 (I might say 2-4) and, as such, I think this series makes a great educational tool for toddlers. I really like this read-along DVD idea, an option available for every story! Altogether there are 12 stories over the 3 included DVDs with a running time of about 107 minutes (without included extras)...
